Handicrafts and Hot Springs Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is renowned for both its wonderful handicraft products and its magnificent natural surroundings. Therefore, the aim of the ‘Hot Springs, Handicraft and Hiking’ tour is to allow you to learn more about these traditional industries as well as experience one of the most spectacular mountain vilages in North Thailand.
Heading East out of Chiang Mai the first stop on this tour takes you to the Thai Silk-Village in San Kam Paeng, where you will learn about the Thai silk making process as well as find out how to tell the difference between real 100% silk and fake silk products! You will also get the chance to purchase some high-quality silk products at a fraction of the price you would pay for them back in your home countries.
The tour will then stop at the Bo Sang Umbrella Village where you will get the chance to walk around the village and learn about the umbrella making process and even take part in painting your own Umbrella.
Having spent the first part of the morning on your feet, you are then taken to the Sankampaeng Hot Springs Chiang Mai, where you can soothe away any aches or pains in the hot foot-pools or instead choose to bathe in the mineral baths. From the hotsprings you then begin your acsent up into the Mae Kam Pong valley – a stunning mountain valley surrounded by lush intermontane tropical forest and wonderful plant and animal life.
Lunch at a Mountain Lodge and Waterfall Hike
You are treated to lunch at Tharn Thong Mountain lodge, which overlooks a wonderful mountain river and is set within a stunning tropical garden. After lunch you will travel further up the valley to the majestic village of Baan Mae Kampong, which is more best described as a Nepalese hill station with it’s traditional wooden styles houses clinging to the sides of the forested valley. From the village you will begin your hike which can be catererd to differing abilities a brief 1 hr circular route takes in the local villages as well as a waterfall stop. The 2 hr circuit, as well as the waterfall, also includes a hike through tea plantations. After the hike you will be transferred back to the city and dropped at your hotel.
